Going to I r e l a n d

Back to Dublin

John played some songs later at an Irish-language radio station, where they taught him to say
"Hi, this is John from the Mountain Goats and I can't stop farting uncontrollably."

From the back of the room at the Cobblestone. Great, great show.

Looking left ...

... and looking right from the stage. Arrow indicates guy who kept yelling for
"Going to Chino," ultimately inciting the whole crowd to chant the name of my hometown.

Giddy London

When I mentioned to John on our way from the airport that I'd just spotted my first TVR,
our cabbie offered to swing by the dealership on the way into town.

Wild. Bring 'em over.

Our boys Justin and Chris and (not pictured) Ed share space
a couple doors down from the main 4AD offices on Alma Road.

Our masters share a box with Breeders tapes.

We were treated to lunch down the road with folks from 4AD and V23.
Here John confers with Vaughan Oliver over the artwork for the single.

The London show was one of a series of 4AD nights at the Institute of Contemporary Arts.

The Clash played their second ever show on this stage. Adam and the Ants played their first.
Throbbing Gristle played here. The Birthday Party played here. Yeesh.

When John introduced me for the second half of the set,
somebody in the crowd kept yelling "Where's Kevin Hughes?"
Another great night.
